Who we are?

Silverfin is a cutting-edge cloud software solution built by accountants, for accountants.

Founded in 2013, Silverfin was created to solve the frustrations of manual, error-prone processes in analysing financial data and compliance. From day one, we've been a cloud-first platform with an open API architecture, leveraging structured data to transform how accountants work.

Our mission is simple: to enhance and support the accountancy profession through AI and automation, ensuring accountants remain relevant and respected in the future of finance.

In 2023, Silverfin became part of the Visma Group, joining one of Europe's leading providers of cloud software. This partnership strengthens our ability to innovate and expand our impact within the accountancy industry.

Today, Silverfin is trusted by over 930 firms across 16 countries. Our clients include all of the Big 4 accounting firms, as well as leading global networks like BDO, PKF, Baker Tilly, Grant Thornton, and Moore.

Headquartered in Ghent, with offices in London, Luxembourg, Gouda (NL), and Mont-Saint-Guibert, we're a team of over 180 people - including a diverse remote engineering team working across multiple time zones - all working together to drive innovation in accounting.

How would you support our success?

We're looking for a full-time Junior IT & Security Officer to join our team on-site at our Ghent office.

First of all, this is a unique opportunity for someone starting their career in tech. You'll be stepping into an environment that encourages hands-on learning, growth, and real responsibility from day one. With support from experienced professionals in IT and InfoSec, you'll have the chance to develop your skills, expand your knowledge, and shape your path in the tech industry. It's not just a stepping stone, it's a launchpad.

You'll be joining a special, small team with high expectations. We are looking for someone with a high level of technical & digital aptitude, someone curious about tech, eager to learn, and willing to grab the bull by the horns. While support and guidance will be available, we're looking for someone with a proactive, builder's mindset. Someone who is willing to do the work in the trenches to learn the ropes, and isn't afraid to learn on their own with steady direction.

You don't need a specific degree to be a star in this role. A rock-solid mindset and feeling for tech is all we need to shape you into a high-value contributor to Silverfin

We'll turn you into an independent builder, working with the latest technologies (AI and all things cloud), pushing the envelope of both internal IT and information security, all with a sprinkle of pragmatism and a no-bs approach.

You'll be expected in our Ghent HQ 4 days a week, with a possibility to work 1 day remotely.

Your responsibilities

As the current IT and Information Security Officers are looking to focus on strategic work and new projects, you will be perfectly positioned to gradually take over operational tasks related to onboarding new colleagues, following-up on access management processes, internal IT Support, security compliance, bug bounty programs etc.

You'll gradually receive more responsibilities as you're being trained, after which you'll receive more autonomy to shape the role towards the future.

As you settle in, you'll begin to understand how we manage access, protect data, and build a secure infrastructure that scales. You'll get hands-on with tools and processes, take part in internal security initiatives, and play an active role in shaping how we work securely and efficiently across the company.

What would success look like?

In your first 6 months, success looks like:

Independently handling day-to-day L1 IT support tickets and onboarding/offboarding flows

Managing and following up on access requests

Participating in internal security checks and following up on bug bounty triages

Contributing to infosec and IT internal projects

Building rapport with your colleagues, and positioning yourself as an individual always ready to help

On-site assistance for technical setup of company-wide events

What will support your success?

Experience and Qualifications

  • A high technical affinity and curiosity about how tech works
  • A degree in IT or cybersecurity is a plus, but not required if you can demonstrate your potential and skills

Skills and knowledge

  • Digital native mindset; comfortable with using and exploring new tools
  • Played with AI tools beyond memes or writing your thesis, like building small agents, MCPs, automations or prompt workflows

Attitude and personality-related traits

  • Strong problem-solving mindset: you're excited to find answers, not wait for them
  • An open, positive and energetic personality to match Silverfin's culture
  • A drive to get stuff done, and take initiative when you don't know how
  • A mindset where you don't wait for orders, but proactively pave the way
  • A burning desire to become a high-impact professional in the IT & cybersecurity tech space
